It has been drawn to my attention that I have not posted in a while. Lazy? Maybe so. Thinking that no one cares. Maybe so. But, I decided that for today I would add my mandala for August. I struggled with whether or not to add color. Yes, I did. But, I present before and after for comparison. For such a calming project this became a hard decision. Peace of mind to just finish it.

Yes, it could have been done in many color combinations, but wanted to keep it low key.

Airport sketch

As I did this sketch, not once did the young man look up. Phones can be so intriguing.

Finally comfortable with sketching. Yes, there are "mistakes", but so what?

March mandala

Yes, I've used pen and colored pencils, BUT the outside border is a fuzzy cord that has been stitched! The technique was inspired by work by Izziyana Suhaimi  at www.Izziyana Suhaimi.com. Stitching on paper is definitely a new element for me.

Doing a piece in a monochromatic color scheme has always been a challenge for me. Think that that log on my shoulder has been knocked off😊

Wow! another new year

For all that has happened in the last couple of months, one needs to be happy that they can welcome the new year. We are safe, no fire, mud slides or excessive snow. Yeah.

There is not the challenge of a general design pattern that I used last year.

 Just that it is a seven inch circle on a ten inch square of paper. 

Naturally, the color is more intense, but hope that you get the idea.

I am doing other work such as dyeing fabric, quilting, embellishing and drawing. 

More later. Blog posting seems to be low on the list!

December mandala

Suddenly I realized that I needed to finish this year of mandalas  that was done with specific parameters. I pulled out several pens, but started rummaging through my draws that are stocked with lots of delightful papers. One idea after the next tumbled out of my hands and this is the resulting piece.

The colorful but light sections are done with with a plastic that is embossed. When the light hits the piece, the colors vary. I love that. The yellow is a textured paper and the green is paper that has been painted. This mandala brings a smile to my face. Seems like a perfect winter display!
 

Oct and Nov mandalas

Mandalas for October and November using the same general format.

Oh oops, the sizes are different, but you get the idea! October was only ballpoint pen and November was watercolor as the background and ink pens for the black.
