We went to Ohio to see the grand kids. We left 100 degree dry heat to fine ourselves in humid 80 degree weather. Ohio is very green and California is not😎 Beauty in both worlds. I had finished this mandala and wasn't sure about the outcome. When I came home I liked it better! It's done with ink and colored pencil. Always learning.

Staying cool
The temperatures are in the 100's this week, so I am staying inside and doing quiet projects!
Here are some more sketchbook pieces influence by Rebecca Blair. There is so much much to learn in these exercises, balance, design, techniques and color.

New mandala challenge
Yes, I've decided to continue doing a mandala each month for the year 2017. However, I have decided to use the same basic layout for each of the 12 months. January was done in watercolor and set the tone for the this idea.
For February I decided to use colored pencils. Actually, this is the second one for this month as I was not pleased with the first one.
Since I am constantly learning, this project continues to push me. So, I am going to take a colored pencil class to improve my understanding and technique. Now it is officially March which means that the next piece will soon be in the making.

Christmas greetings
This year I hand stitched the star for the front of our Christmas cards. I used two layers of blue paper to give it strength. Funny, I already have the idea for next year's card. Love and joy to all.
The mandala for December is finished. If you've looked at earlier posts, you will see that I been intrigued by the work of Rebecca Blair. I am pleased with this "Flower of Life" creation.
So, I did a mandala a month. Do I continue. I think so. Actually, I have more than 12 in my collection.

Sketchbook
Sketchbook drawing seems to be keeping my interest. I continue to be fascinated at how the pieces can be so varied with a limited amount of stroke designs.

Nov Mandala and sketchbook
November can be so beautiful. I delight in the fall colors. I used watercolors and pens on watercolor paper for this month's mandala.
I have been doing a fair amount of drawing, but decided to post this piece done in the style of Rebecca Blair at rebeccablairart.tumblr.com. There is so much to learn by using pens only. The balance between light and dark is helpful in many of my art pursuits.
