50th Anniversary!

Here are some flowers given to me by my husband for our 50th Anniversary.

Playing with pens

The first pictures are from the journal, that is almost filled, which follows the inspiration from Rebecca Blair's journal pages. The bottom pages have very old (but not valuable) postage stamps.

 Then, I continue to practice drawing. And to practice with a ballpoint pen.

Yes, I continue to follow work by Rebecca Blair. Here are a few pages from my workbook.

But, I do continue doing figure drawing. Always trying to improve.

 It is so great to be in the room with some really talented artist!

The journey continues!!

February's mandala

There is some comfort in routine. Getting back to doing a mandala each month is helping me to focus and be more creative. This month the paper was paste paper painted by my dear "sister" Barbara Parke-Wolff. The black was micron and other markers. The little bit of color added in the center was done with Intense Pencils.

LEARNING mandala

Wow! I have so much to learn. I wanted to do a pastel piece and play with the french curves and circles templates. I did it, but there is just too much going on for my liking. To me a piece works best if there is a place to rest your eyes and it just doesn't happen here. There should be peace, unity and calm for my liking. Thus: a learning mandala.

Butterflies and flowers

This butterfly is my attempt to warm all of you who are suffering in the cold. I dyed both the yellow silk and the cotton background. The black is commercial fabric. Dyeing fabric is my latest addition to the art projects that interest me.

Here is a close-up which shows that I added a few beads in the background. Yes, I machine quilted each section of the butterfly. Don't you love the color variations between the pictures (ugh!). Anyway, I hope that you get the idea. The piece is 24" x 18".

A friend gave me some daffodils as she thought that I would like to draw them. That seemed like a good suggestion! This drawing was done with Micron pen and Inktense pencils.

Really, I've done lots of different pieces and practice motivated by Danny Gregory's Bootkamp. Just haven't gotten around to posting items.

Gift for Hole in One

A dear friend sent my husband a plant for his Hole-in-One. Encouraged by Sketchbook School I took the time to sit and focus on this gift. Intense pencils and my Lamy pen were used.
