LIFE piece

Apparently I am not a person who has zeroed in on one medium,
This work is done on a 11" x 14" canvas. The satin squares are individually sewn and the color variation is because I have simply flipped the fabric. The beads are rows of strung beads. Sewing through canvas is a real challenge, so I have gotten smarter and switched to quilted fabric for my background. Each project prepares me for the next.

This is really creative and different. I love the textures created by the squares of fabric and beads. Makes it a very dynamic piece. Nothing wrong with using different mediums to channel your creative energy.

Very cool! I like the word LIFE on top- that says it all. I too am an artist in search of a medium- but it's good to explore- it will all fold back together. Oh- I like your colors too!

I loveeee the effect on this one. The word really stands out beautifully from all the patches :) It gives off a warm and calm feeling too... more like "ahhhh.....Life" ^^

A Wonderful "Life" (ah-hem) work. Are you submitting it for a juried show? Boyohboy, you might think about it - it's definitely up there.

This is a wonderful piece. I'm like you-after doing art quilts for about 12 years, I am experimenting with a little bit of everything. It's fun and a very creative time.

This is beautiful and inspiring, Sandra. I can't settle on one media either, and there are so many more things that I want to try. :)

It's gorgeous! A beautiful and happy life that is, with highlights and deeper meanings. Love it.

It's beautiful!! The guy at drawing tutorials says you should focus on one medium in order to develop a style; but I think it's the curse of the creative that we cannot settle and constantly look to play and try new things! This really is a beautiful piece!

Cool Blog, nice varied artwork! I work in a lot of mediums too.
You were really able to mail the quilted postcards? No envelope? Same price as a paper postcard?
EDM is a great group, I'm going to try to post more this year.
Continued success!

This is like something out of one of Nita Leland's Color books, that you can be creative with color no matter what the medium. And yeah, I suspect a lot of us cannot confine ourselves to one medium.... I think if a person is a creative sort, that's because they like to push boundaries and try out many things.
