Improved mandala

It was bugging me to see the mandala from afar. It was just to washed out. So, I went over the colored areas with a red colored pencil. This is it-the final. I am pleased.

Now on to Septembers piece. Think that it might be ballpoint pen.

August 2018

It has been drawn to my attention that I have not posted in a while. Lazy? Maybe so. Thinking that no one cares. Maybe so. But, I decided that for today I would add my mandala for August. I struggled with whether or not to add color. Yes, I did. But, I present before and after for comparison. For such a calming project this became a hard decision. Peace of mind to just finish it.

Yes, it could have been done in many color combinations, but wanted to keep it low key.

March mandala

Yes, I've used pen and colored pencils, BUT the outside border is a fuzzy cord that has been stitched! The technique was inspired by work by Izziyana Suhaimi  at www.Izziyana Suhaimi.com. Stitching on paper is definitely a new element for me.

February 2018

Doing a piece in a monochromatic color scheme has always been a challenge for me. Think that that log on my shoulder has been knocked off😊

Nov Mandala and sketchbook

November can be so beautiful. I delight in the fall colors. I used watercolors and pens on watercolor paper for this month's mandala.

I have been doing a fair amount of drawing, but decided to post this piece done in the style of Rebecca Blair at rebeccablairart.tumblr.com. There is so much to learn by using pens only. The balance between light and dark is helpful in many of my art pursuits.

May mandala

Yes, I continue to push myself to create another design within the 7" circle.
One can only learn from such challenges.

There was a fundraiser for a biker friend who is fighting cancer in his arm. He is teaching all of us so much about how to push the body and mind. This is the 18th of May and he has ridden about 1,100 miles this month!
My contribution to the fundraiser was this quilt.

The black was fused applique and a pattern, the background is a solid piece of fabric.

April drawings

My mandala for April continued to teach me about calmness, design and color.

I have been attending figure drawing session and maybe someday I'll be right on! Max is the first model.

                                                          Zach is another great model.

Golly, I just got his right arm to short. Oh well, I'll have to try again.

EDM in May continues

Another five days of this challenge has passed and somehow I've managed to keep up!

There is this lovely perfume bottle that is still pretty full even after owning it for years. It is the thought that counts when given a gift:) The feather was from a friend. I find it so stunning that nature can provide such detailed and colorful surprises.

As silly as it is to decorate a tea kettle, I had so much fun. Part of this challenge is to open me up to see things differently. It's working!

A rattlesnake that was 9'6" long certainly fits my bill for creepy. Glad that was not found in my part of the world. A lock on lips seems like a good idea, not only for secrets, but for reminding me to only be kind in what I say.

Zentangle card

Among my various projects, I made time to do a zentangle card and envelope for a special friend. I'm wishing her good health and time to have some fun.

I also decided that the card needed a special envelope.

Permanent markers and colored pencils were used for this gift.
