1st place

We had our River City Quilt Show this past weekend and I won a ribbon in the small pieced category. My entry was part of a challenge. We were given two fabrics and had to make a quilt, bag, garment, curtains of whatever one's creative mind could dream up. There were some big quilts and small ones. This quilt was about 28" by 30".

One of the center green yellows and the turquoise were the given fabrics. Well, by the time I had my design and got to the outer edge, the turquoise was too loud. So, I took fabric paint and sponged it on the bright fabric. Hey, there was nothing in the rules that said the process was not allowed.

Congratulations! It's very beautiful - love the color combination, and it's plain to see why you won. I love the effect of the sponged fabric paint. (Actually I like the contrast between the loose blue pattern and the mechanical guide lines underneath - it would make an awfully cool abstract piece.

It is gorgeous! I also like the looseness of the blue pattern and the tightness in the center. Congratulations!

Congratulations! It looks gorgeous and definitely a well deserved win.
Thanks for the comment and advice on the shoulder. I know that the doctor would probably tell me the things I already know like rest more, take some pain killers and such. Injuries like that takes months to heal, but I know it's nothing to do with broken bone so it should be fine. I really do appreciate the concern Sandra =)

I think Stripes is brilliant! We have plants just like that here and you captured them perfectly - but such life!! The composition is fabulous. You make something very complicated look natural. And the background color is a surprise - and it works!

Congratulations on your much-deserved win! The quilt is beautiful, and the little touch of the beads on the bottom sets it off perfectly! nancy
