From Dots to Lines

I'm continuing my study of drawing by going to the next lesson in the Creative Drawing book by Rottger/Klante which was published in 1963.
Obviously, these ideas are what I need at this moment in time. Interesting how these gifts can appear when you really need them.

I love to do htings like this, though I haven't for a good while. Those lines in the top right of the bottom sheet are fabulous.

My thought exactly -- second page, top right. Just awesome. Now I'm itching to try this as well. What was the reasoning behind the exercise?

I'm so intrigued by this. Is the book called, Creative Drawing, Point and Line? nancy

I've seen these exercises in various books, but never took the time to do them. Terrible, I know! These look fantastic! I especially like the waves on the second page, right. I can see that being very useful while drawing fabric.

I am enjoying your drawing exercises--you are creating some interesting and lovely effects. The fabric postcards are great!

Yes, the book is CREATIVE DRAWING Point and Line by Rottger and Klante, first published by Reinhold in the USA in 1964. "The book sets out to show the correct way to develop graphic fluency...".Enjoy!

Great composition - they look pretty nice the way you arranged the page! And it seems like a very interesting and useful exercise.

Great work on these exercises. I think it is just like physical exercise. We don't always do it, even though it is very good for us.

And yes, life does have a way of providing what we need when we need it.

Mighty cool! I can see how when you are doing a drawing that you might remember and think, "oh, I know just what pattern will do good here!" Great exercise!
